Jongo is a fictional informal settlement somewhere on the outskirts of Nairobi. I first arrived in Kenya to oversee a radio drama which was about to go into production. I script edited 24 episodes, produced and directed the first twelve and supported a local producer and director to complete the series.

Whilst working with Well Told Story, I also championed the cause of multi-platform storytelling for this project and made some short videos on location in Mathare. Shot handheld guerrilla-style, these clips told the bits between the audio episodes.

Due to the success and popularity of the project, these short videos were the genesis of the Jongo Love TV series and feature film. The original production was nominated for an International Digital Emmy in 2013. In total, I executive-produced 36 episodes of the radio drama, thirteen episodes of TV drama, a feature film shot entirely on a smartphone, and numerous comic book stories.

Would you like to tell me about an exciting opportunity? Then let’s talk. I’ll be happy to hear about your ideas and how I can bring them to life.
